Community Guidelines

Mbube.io exists to preserve Mbube heritage and connect our people. Every interaction here should reflect the dignity and respect that our culture is built on. These guidelines exist not to restrict expression, but to protect the community that makes this platform meaningful.

• Treat all community members with respect, regardless of their community, gender, age, or opinion.
• Disagreement is welcome — personal attacks are not. Debate ideas, never attack the person.
• Do not post content designed to humiliate, shame, or demean any individual.

• Content that dehumanises people based on ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.
• Inter-community tensions exist — this platform must not be used to amplify or inflame them. We are all Mbube.
• Slurs, stereotypes used to demean, or calls for violence against any group will result in immediate account suspension.

• Do not send unsolicited, unwanted, or threatening messages to other users.
• Do not coordinate pile-ons or organise groups to target an individual.
• If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop immediately.

The language corpus is sacred. Deliberately submitting false, mocking, or corrupted translations undermines the entire mission of this platform.

• Only submit translations you genuinely believe to be accurate.
• If you are unsure, mark it as uncertain in your contribution notes.
• Do not submit offensive words as translations of neutral terms.
• Moderators and Linguists will review and can reverse malicious contributions.

• Do not post content you know to be false, especially about community events, history, or individuals.
• Do not spread health misinformation.
• Label opinions clearly as opinions, not facts.

• Do not flood the feed with repetitive or irrelevant content.
• Unsolicited advertising, affiliate links, or promotional content posted without permission will be removed.
• Automated posting (bots) is prohibited without written permission from the platform team.

• Do not post private information about others — addresses, phone numbers, financial details, or private photos — without their explicit consent. This is commonly known as “doxxing” and it is illegal under Nigerian law.
• Do not share private messages publicly without the sender’s consent.

• This is a community-focused platform. Explicit sexual content is not permitted.
• Graphic violence or disturbing imagery must not be posted.
• Content involving minors in any inappropriate way will result in an immediate permanent ban and a report to Nigerian authorities.

• First violation: Content removal and a formal warning.
• Repeated violations: Temporary suspension (days to weeks).
• Serious or persistent violations: Permanent ban with no appeal.
• Illegal conduct: Reported to relevant Nigerian authorities.

If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report feature on the post or comment, or contact us directly at our contact page. We take all reports seriously and aim to review them within 48 hours.
